Duetto III

Johann Sebastian Bach

Description

This is the third of the four Duetti from Bach's Clavier-Übung III. Set in a bright, light G major, the two voices exchange the theme on equal terms, and since the piece has no pedal part, it sits naturally under the hands at the keyboard. Intermediate in level with a fairly substantial length, it calls for light, clear articulation between voices while preserving its cheerful tonal character.

Two-voice contrapuntal pieces from Part 3 of Bach's Clavier-Übung, blending strict compositional rigor with a lively dialogue between the voices.
