Description
The Dying Swan, Op. 100, by American pianist-composer Louis Moreau Gottschalk, is a lyrical, sentimental piece with a singing melody reminiscent of Saint-Saens' The Swan. Louis Moreau Gottschalk (1829-1869)
Louis Moreau Gottschalk, born in New Orleans, was one of the first American piano virtuosos to achieve international fame. After training in Europe, he toured widely across Europe and the Americas with a distinctive style incorporating Creole and Caribbean folk elements.
