Description
Composed in 1914, this set of three short waltzes carries an ironic title typical of Satie's playful sensibility. Its restrained harmonic language and deliberately unadorned writing gently poke fun at the salon-waltz conventions of the era. Though brief, at under three minutes and around 1,000 notes, it requires a distinctive sense of timing and character from advanced players.

Erik Satie (1866-1925)
Erik Satie was a French composer from Honfleur who worked in Montmartre's cabarets while pursuing a highly individual musical aesthetic. Known for spare, understated music and whimsically titled works, he later influenced minimalist and ambient music.
