Description
This Fantasia is based on a fragment Mozart left behind around 1782, later completed by another composer. It carries the dramatic, improvisatory character typical of C minor, with wide emotional swings. At around nine and a half minutes with over 3,900 notes, both its length and note count are substantial, requiring advanced players to sustain tension across an extended structure. Dramatic shading typical of Mozart emerges throughout its freely unfolding structure.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria, and achieved fame as a child prodigy before establishing his career in Vienna. In a life of only 35 years, he produced masterpieces across symphonies, operas, chamber music, and keyboard works. His style combines clarity and formal balance with rich emotional depth.
