Description
Written in 1894 for the clarinetist Richard Muhlfeld, this is one of Brahms's final chamber works, later arranged by the composer himself for viola. This rendering presents the piano part on its own, conveying the introspective, autumnal lyricism typical of Brahms's late style within the sober key of F minor.

Johannes Brahms (1833-1897)
Johannes Brahms was a composer born in Hamburg who rose to prominence after being championed by Robert and Clara Schumann, later settling in Vienna. He fused classical formal rigor with Romantic expressiveness across symphonies and chamber music, and in his later years wrote many introspective piano miniatures.
