Jean-Philippe Rameau was a French Baroque composer and music theorist from Dijon. His Treatise on Harmony laid foundations for modern harmonic theory, while he also produced brilliant harpsichord pieces and opera-ballets. His music is characterized by dance-like rhythms and witty musical depiction. This site includes three of his works: "Tambourin," "Les Tendres Plaintes," and "Les Sauvages."
