Description
Composed in 1851, close to the end of Schumann's creative life, this set of three character pieces distills his gift for capturing fleeting, fantastical moods. Compared with the earlier Fantasiestucke, Op. 12, it reveals a more mature and settled expressive language. The set lasts about ten minutes.
Piano works with a free, improvisatory character, ranging from Bach to Chopin and Beethoven, each shaped by imaginative, fantasy-like ideas.
About the Composer
Robert Schumann (1810-1856)
Robert Schumann was a leading German Romantic composer born in Zwickau.
