Description
This set of three Minuets, composed around 1816 when Schubert was still a teenager, follows the elegant triple-time tradition inherited from Haydn and Mozart. Graceful minuet themes likely alternate with lighter trio sections in the classical minuet-and-trio format. At over eight minutes and more than four thousand notes, the set has a substantial scope for an early work.

Franz Schubert (1797-1828)
Franz Schubert was a Vienna-born composer who died at only 31 but left behind a vast body of work, especially in the field of Lieder. Known for his gift for melody and subtle modulation, songs such as "Erlkonig" remain widely performed today. His piano works, including the Impromptus, are equally rich in lyricism.
