Description
This is the sixth variation, composed by Chopin, within Hexaméron — a collaborative set of variations organized by Liszt with contributions from six composers including Thalberg and Czerny. Based on the march theme from Bellini's opera I puritani, Chopin's variation is more restrained than the others, carrying a soft, nocturne-like character.

Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849)
Frederic Chopin was born in Poland and made his career in Paris, remaining unusual among great composers for writing almost exclusively for piano. He poured his longing for his homeland into mazurkas and polonaises, while his ballades and etudes combine poetic melody with harmonic innovation.
