Description
This is the piano part from the Trio for Horn, Violin, and Piano, Op. 40, composed in 1865 around the time of his mother's death. Echoing the hunting-horn calls of the horn part, the piano writing is rich in harmony and vigorous in motion. Spanning over twenty-six minutes with more than fourteen thousand notes, it is a substantial work demanding stamina and sustained concentration from advanced players.

Johannes Brahms (1833-1897)
Johannes Brahms was a composer born in Hamburg who rose to prominence after being championed by Robert and Clara Schumann, later settling in Vienna. He fused classical formal rigor with Romantic expressiveness across symphonies and chamber music, and in his later years wrote many introspective piano miniatures.
