Description

This Nocturno was written by Franz Strauss, father of the operatic composer Richard Strauss and himself a renowned horn player. Its smooth, singing melodic lines reflect a wind player's sense of long, sustained phrasing. At roughly four and a half minutes with a dense, richly Romantic texture, it calls for expressive control and a sustained rich tone from advanced pianists.
