Description
A variation from the 'Kingdom of the Shades' scene in Act III of La Bayadère, one of ballet's most famous corps de ballet sequences. The music reflects the scene's ethereal, otherworldly atmosphere. Though under a minute long, it rewards careful attention to harmonic color and melodic flow.
Works written in theme-and-variations form, where a single melody is transformed in many different ways.
