Description
This set of four marches was written in 1849, amid the turbulent uprisings in Dresden of that year, and is often associated with that unsettled political climate. Vigorous dotted rhythms and bold harmonic writing run through all four pieces. The set lasts around fifteen minutes.

Robert Schumann (1810-1856)
