Description
Believed to date from around 1815, this is a compact work in sonatina form. True to its title, it has a concise structure, yet Schubert's singing melodic lines are already evident, bringing rich lyricism to its brevity. At about nine minutes and roughly six thousand notes, it packs expressive contrast into a compact frame, suiting advanced players despite its modest scale.

Franz Schubert (1797-1828)
Franz Schubert was a Vienna-born composer who died at only 31 but left behind a vast body of work, especially in the field of Lieder. Known for his gift for melody and subtle modulation, songs such as "Erlkonig" remain widely performed today. His piano works, including the Impromptus, are equally rich in lyricism.
