Description
Composed in 1917, this satirical miniature parodies Clementi's famous sonatina. The score is accompanied by humorous descriptive captions evoking a bureaucrat's daily commute to the office, and a playful, mocking wit runs through its borrowed Classical form. At just over three minutes with around 2,000 notes, it calls for a bright touch combined with a sense of comic irony.

Erik Satie (1866-1925)
Erik Satie was a French composer from Honfleur who worked in Montmartre's cabarets while pursuing a highly individual musical aesthetic. Known for spare, understated music and whimsically titled works, he later influenced minimalist and ambient music.
