Description
The Waltz, WoO 85, dates from around 1825 and lasts only about thirty seconds, making it an extremely brief piece. As one of Beethoven's works without an opus number, it has a simple, almost improvised character, as if jotted down in passing. With only 337 notes, it retains the light rhythmic lift typical of triple-time dance despite its brevity, and its tempo shifts and clarity of touch place it among the pieces suited to advanced players.
